How would you spend your last day on Earth?
“[If my friends are] still alive, I would spend it with them. You know, get to spend as much time as possible with them.”
What career path do you want to pursue?
“I really like [Science, Technology, Engineering and Math] but my overall dream career would be to become a teacher.”
What’s your best joke?
“A neutron walks into a bar and orders a drink. He asks the bartender for his check, and the bartender replies “For you, no charge!”
Who is the most inspirational person in your life?
“The most inspirational person in my life would be my father. He’s been through so many tough [times] like losing his own father, and [supporting his entire family]. He has been through a lot but he still takes the time to take care of his children.”

“Why not have both? I like to see them going at each other for fun.”

Matthew Aguila (12)
What will you miss most about high school?
“Personally, hanging out with my friends and [being in drama]. It is just a mixture of being able to see my friends and acting [on a stage] every day, so it is going to be really sentimental when it is over.”
Who are your most inspirational teachers?
“[My] most inspirational [teacher] would be Mrs. Weaver because she [is able] to find a way to make every dull moment happy and loving.”
Why were you chosen for Homecoming Court?
“Honestly, I think it is because I try hard to not let others words get to me, and instead focus on my work. ”
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
“Shrimp Scampi. I love seafood and I love pasta, so mixing them together would be perfect.”
What is one thing everyone should do at least once in their lives?
“Always try new things for sure. Get really adventurous and try to explore the world, even if it is only two states.”

“Eight feet tall, because I’m a basketball player and basketball players need to be tall.”
What is your go-to comfort food?
“Popcorn chicken, because it tastes good and is easy to make.”
Why were you chosen?
“[I think I was chosen because] I’m very fun and nice to people.”
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
“The ability to control time so I could change my mistakes.”
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a medal for?
“Probably sleeping, because I sleep all the time.”

What qualities make you a good candidate for homecoming queen?
“I believe that qualities like my empathy, sincerity, passion, initiative and general compassion for the school and the community make me a good candidate.”
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
“It would be starting my new high school life here and completely immerse myself here even though I felt I wasn’t prepared and had no experience to really show me what it was about. But over time, I was able to grow and learned to appreciate it.”
Favorite hobby?
“My artistic hobby of watercoloring. I like to do it in my free time and it is a good stress outlet.”
What’s the most superstitious thing you’ve ever done?
“I believe in the possibility of ghosts, and bad luck [superstitions] like stepping on cracks or black cats.”
Who is your favorite Disney princess?
“Mulan, definitely since she’s just so empowering and embodies a lot of the qualities I feel modern women should have, such as her drive and passion to do things when she believed action should be taken.”

“Telekinesis because it would be super cool to move things with my mind.”

“Sauces from Chick-Fil-A and Polynesian sauces because I’m Polynesian so #Represent!”
What will you miss most about high school?
“I’ll miss my high school routine and my friends because after college we might not see each other as much.”
What’s your most memorable high school memory thus far?
“I’ll say it’s been hanging out with my friends and having fun.”
What fictional place would you most like to go?
“I would go to the universe in the movie A Wrinkle In Time.”

“I would like to give a shoutout to my friends, family and my professors for pushing me to do my best and encouraging me to go [for] homecoming court.”

What special skills do you have?
“Running; it is something I really enjoy.”
If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
“I would be a dog because they accompany you through bad moments and they are always happy and cheerful.”
What makes you stand out from the other candidates?
“I’m very open to everyone. I was new to this school and this state four years ago and I [have met] a lot of people, I am also really friendly, so I feel like that is what makes me stand out.”

Why do you think you were chosen?
“I think I was chosen because of my work ethic in class and also the amount of activities that I am involved in at school. In general, I think I come off as a nice person to other people.”
What is your favorite dessert?
“My favorite dessert would be ice cream because there are so many flavors and all of them taste so good.”
What will you miss the most from high school?
“I would miss the activities that I am involved in the most, like the Science Olympiad, yearbook, FBLA and IB. I would miss the people that I have met and the families that I have created here at high school.”
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
“I would go probably to Europe because I have never been to Europe and I would want to hit all of the major places [over there].”
What are you looking forward to the most at Homecoming?
“[I am] looking forward most to being able to share the experience with the other court members who are really amazing. I think just the idea of being in Homecoming court, having fun with them and being at the rally makes me excited.”

How do you feel that you have been nominated for Homecoming court?
“Since watching the Homecoming rally and halftime show in my freshman year, I have always had in mind that one day, I wanted to experience [being in court] myself. When I found out that I got on [court], I felt so accomplished and honored that the teachers at this school find me worthy of such a title.”
What is your best pun?
“Math has never been my best subject; it always makes me so triggered-nometry.”
If you could live as anyone else for a day, who would it be?
“I would like to live as Brother Nature from Twitter because he gets along with any animal he comes across, and I find that so interesting.”
What is your favorite childhood memory?
“My favorite childhood memory is when my family and I went on a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park in 2012. We drove up there and back, and it was awesome to experience life in different states and see new things. My dad and I always talk about wanting to go again.”
Cold or hot weather?
“I prefer hot weather because it reminds me of summer, my favorite time of the year, as it is full of unstressful vibes, no school and fun times with my friends and family. Also, I have an excuse to drink boba and eat ice cream.”

“[Definitely my parents] because [they are] my motivation in everything I do.”

“What did the police officer say to his chest? You’re under a vest.”
What are you planning on doing after high school?
“Definitely going to college, but not sure with one yet because I am still working on the application process. [When I do get to college, I want to major in psychology].”
Who is your favorite teacher?
“Mr. Han because he always reminds me, ‘Do not be weak’.”
What is your favorite childhood memory?
“Probably going to Mexico every summer. I would go to the beach and [one time when I was little,] I vividly remember seeing baby turtles hatching from their eggs. I watched as all of the turtles went into the ocean.”

Is the earth round or flat?
“It is all about perspective. From your point of view, the earth is flat, but when you take a look at the bigger picture, you realize that the earth is actually round. That, or you are a conspiracist who believes that the earth is flat.”
What is your go-to snack?
“I will eat any kind of chips that are not original flavored, because that is way too boring. If I had to choose one, I would say Lay’s Kettle Cooked Honey Mesquite Barbeque Chips.”
If you could start your life over from any point, when would it be?
“I would go back to freshman year and join more clubs that are related to the majors that I am pursuing in college. This way, my extracurriculars would be more focused and not as scrambled, and I could build a more impressive résumé.”
What is your favorite fast food restaurant?
“In-N-Out all the way!”
What are you looking forward to the most at homecoming?
“Taking pictures and hanging out with friends. I am really excited to make new memories because this will be my first and last homecoming dance.”

“My boy Jeff Von because he is genuinely a nice person and he is good at a lot of things.”

“A man got hit hard in the head with a can of 7-Up, but it’s okay; it was a soft drink.”
Why do you think you were chosen?
“[Although my work habits were not that good before, I worked to improve them. More importantly,] I think I tried to be as respectful as I can to my teachers, peers, and administration. So I believe that just being a nice person to people who are older than me helped me get chosen.”
Cold or hot weather?
“That is a hard question because when it is hot you can go the ocean, but when [it is] cold you get to bring out the sick jackets and winter fits. [So,] for the sake of this, I would have to say cold.”

How has high school impacted you?
“High school has been a fun journey and I learned a lot about life throughout high school. [It is] sad knowing that this is my last year because the past four years have been really memorable and this is something I will look back on.”
What is your favorite dessert?
“I really like cheesecake because if it has cheese I like it. Even though [it is] not actually cheese I still like it.”
What are you looking forward to the most at Homecoming?
“I am looking forward to having fun with friends, my date, enjoying the night and just [being able] to relax from school.”

“My go-to snack is Chex Mix because [it is] a little more healthy.”
