Voices of Wilson participated on a field trip to El Encanto Healthcare center on Dec. 4.
Every year, students from Women’s Ensemble (Sorelle) and Chamber Choir (Aria) partake in this field trip to visit the elderly residing in El Encanto. They performed carols to help bring happiness to the seniors.

According to Choir Director De John Brown, this event helps inspired students to continue giving back to others.
“We always love finding opportunities to perform for our community [to thank those] that support us,” Brown said. “I love it when my students [participate in these activities] because it inspires them to continue to think about the people that [appreciate our group].”

Moreover, Aria president senior Kristin Sung believes that practice makes a perfect execution.
“Since we just had our [Thanksgiving] break, we had to focus more on having our whole set together, which was improved by running through [our songs].” Song said.

As stated by choir vice president senior Yolanda Chen, the event spreads holiday spirit to those who most need it.
“Our trip to El Encanto is really unique because it is not for profit but rather to bring the holiday spirit to the residents,” Chen said. It shows all of our students that music can really change lives, especially if people are in a dark place.”
Choir’s next event is the Winter Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
