Voices of Wilson hosted its annual “Making Spirits Bright” concert to showcase its holiday spirit on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
The concert featured Voices of Wilson’s four choral groups—Aria, Sorellé, Harmony and Rhythm—as they joined together to sing songs such as “White Christmas” and “Candlelight Carol.”
As the choir director, DeJohn Brown is proud of the students and the hard work they put into the last concert of the year.
“The holiday time is always very special for me,” Brown said. “The students have been practicing for this concert since mid-October, and seeing all the students smiling made this concert great.”
To honor tradition, near the end of the performance, choir alumni participated in singing “Candlelight Carol.”
According to Aria member senior Andy Sui, seeing the familiar faces made the concert memorable and inspired him to try his best.
“Being able to sing with alumni and in front of people that I love made this concert the biggest [one] of the year,” Sui said. “I tried to make a connection with everyone in the choir, and I [did my best] to sing [well].”
Moreover, Sorellé member junior Demi Davidson believes the concert exceeded her expectations.
“I loved being able to share the [holiday] spirit and see all the choirs perform,” Davidson said. “The songs ‘Santa Baby’ and ‘Candlelight Carol’ were [especially] powerful.”
Voices of Wilson’s next concert will be held in Feb. 2019.
