The secret is out! The long awaited announcement of the prom theme has been released at the Mr. Wilson event on Friday Mar. 17th.This year’s prom theme is Midnight Masquerade! The event will be held on April 22nd at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the night ends at 11:00 PM.Junior Associated Student Body (ASB) member Philip Ea explains the process of picking out the theme for this year’s prom. “The process of picking out this year’s prom was solely based off of the ideas previously discussed for HOCO and in accordance with our advisor Mrs. B’s input with the budget we had.” Ea also shared how the reveal did not take away from the amazing talent presented at Mr. Wilson. “Mr. Wilson set the scene for prom to be announced without taking away from the talent as it was revealed near the end of the show. It acted as a little bonus for the people who came to be the first ones to know the theme.”ASB outdid themselves with Mr. Wilson as many students were surprised with the numerous acts the contestants had in store for them. Senior Irisa Le gives an insight to how she felt about Mr. Wilson and the prom theme. “I attended Mr. Wilson with my friends, and it was very fun to watch! My friends and I were rooting for our friend Ethan, and we were ecstatic when he won. He really deserved to win for his hard work and talent. Though when the prom theme was revealed, I was excited because Midnight Masquerade is such a cool theme. It is also very fitting since our year had to go through online school. I like this theme a lot better than last year’s.”Junior Shannon Chau clarified how this year’s theme will be one that is for the books.“I found this year’s prom theme quite pleasant sounding. Although I am not attending, I am sure it will be a fun experience for those who are. I think this year’s theme might receive a better reaction compared to last year, since the theme is a bit easier for people to follow.”Prom will certainly be one to remember for the class of ‘23 and ‘24. Make sure to purchase your tickets in the ASB office! $115 with ASB card and $125 without as of Mar. 20 to Mar. 31st.ASB’s next organized event would be club food day.
