In my two years of high school, the most important lesson I have learned so far is to surround myself with good people. Personally, my happiness stems from the people I surround myself with. Human interaction is the reason why the world goes ‘round. Actions generate emotions and those emotions produce even more actions. Interactions impact the way we live and feel on a daily basis.

Throughout my life, I have met many amazing people who have influenced and shaped me to be who I am today. At school, I impulsively joined the water polo team and the journalism class Paw Prints, and both created everlasting friendships. Even though people leave, their countless memories and lessons will not. Personally, seeing other people succeed inspires me. Being able to succeed and grow with the people around you is an amazing feeling. Conversing with people who care everyday brings a smile to my face and I hope I can make others feel the same. I do not think these people actually know how much they mean to me and how they impact my life. One conversation is all it takes.

Whilst people have their own ways of coping with conflicts, my initial reaction is to talk to people about my problems. Be that person that someone can go to for support because no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. Recently, I was caught by my older brother sneaking out of the house to hang out with friends. He got angry at me and guilt tripped me about not letting my mom know my whereabouts. I decided to stay in and I dug myself in my room, mad at him for confining me. That night, he sent me texts explaining how he knows that I am a teenager doing teenage things, and that he was proud of me for staying home. After having a talk with him, I realized that he was only teaching me to make better decisions. He simply wants nothing but the best for me, even if it means hurting my feelings a little to teach me a lesson. My brother is an example of someone who inspires to become a better person everyday.

I would like to thank my swim and polo team, friends, coaches, teachers, classmates, two older brothers, and my parents for inspiring me to be a better person and providing me with endless support. Might as well thank everyone I know, because every little contribution they have made has shaped who I am today. I will always be grateful for the human connection that continues to change my outlook on life.
