Softball held a car wash at the Hacienda Heights Baptist Church on Apr. 13.
The team gathered for six hours to wash cars in order to raise money for new equipment and a homerun fence.
According to captain senior Emily Bracamonte, car washes are enjoyable fundraisers and serve as bonding experiences for the team.
“Car washes are specifically more fun for us, and we enjoy hosting them,” Bracamonte said. “The turnout was better than expected, and many people came to [support us]. It is nice to be able to help the community [while also raising] money for the team.”
Additionally, player sophomore Kassandra Escobedo enjoyed preparing posters to advertise and gather customers.
“It was fun making posters and posting on [social media] to spread the word about our car wash,” Escobedo said. “[Also], it was nice to see many people come to support, especially parents.”
Ultimately, catcher junior Elizabeth Chong appreciates the team’s contributions and has high hopes for upcoming fundraisers.
“It felt good to be outside in the hot sun with my teammates and family members,” Chong said. “This fundraiser turned out to be better than any of the other ones [we have] held so far. I hope our future fundraisers have even better outcomes.”
Softball’s next game will be away against San Dimas HS on Apr. 22.
