Welcoming the spring season with warmth, Glen A. Wilson High School (GAWHS) Orchestra Club announces plans for Senior Home Recital in March.
Set to perform at the Sunnycrest Senior Living Home in Fullerton on Mar. 16, GAWHS Orchestra Club plans to entertain with diverse repertoire selections ranging from classical pieces such as Schubert’s Impromptu in E-flat Major to modern film music Merry Go Round of Life from Howl’s Moving Castle.
In addition to the variety in music genre, Orchestra Club also plans to further their creativity by encouraging its members to all perform a repertoire of their choice in solos, duets, trios, quartets, or ensemble.
In preparation to bring the best to their audience in March, Orchestra Club President Halo Kwok (12) explains that the club will implement a regular rehearsal schedule from late January to March to practice and perfect their performance.
“To prepare for this recital, the Orchestra Club plans to practice at the Pepperbrook Park on the weekends,” Kwok said.
Beyond refining the performance until the recital, Kwok also sees the rehearsals as bonding events for club members to destress and socialize.
“We will practice our music together, [so] rehearsals will also be the time for club members to bond through team work and get to know each other more — all while sharing the joy of music with one another,” Kwok commented.
Excited about this new opportunity to perform, club member Samantha Tung (12) shared the things she is looking forward to at the recital.
“I really look forward to the songs that will be played at the recital,” Tung expressed. “And maybe I will sing in one of the songs at the recital too!”
Powered by a joint passion for music, members of Orchestra Club hope this first Senior Home Recital to be the first of an annual tradition that will continue to radiate warmth and kindness in our community in the years to come. For this, Orchestra Club is opening this performance opportunity to all GAWHS students — those who are interested may direct message @gawhsrwoc on Instagram for more information!
