What are you looking forward to the most at homecoming?

“[I am excited to perform] with the court during the [homecoming rally]. It has not [really] been done in the past years and I am really excited to see what everyone thinks, and if they enjoy it.” 

Why do you think you were chosen to be on homecoming court?

“I hope that I was chosen because I am involved in school, and I always try to be kind and compassionate to others. I think the teachers chose me because they [feel that] I am a good representative of Wilson.”

If you could meet any fictional character, who would it be?

“It would probably be Hermione Granger. The Harry Potter books were one of the [very first series] that I read, and Hermione is [a very] strong, intelligent [character].”

Who inspires you the most?

“My [dance] team. They are [a] dedicated and hardworking group of girls, and they always give their all to everything they do, in both performances and practice. They inspire me every day.”

Where is your favorite place that you have traveled to?

“Oahu. [My family and I] stayed at a hotel where we got to [feed koi] in [their ponds], and had giant watermelon snow cones. That was my favorite part of the trip.”

Who will you be spending homecoming with?

“I will be spending [homecoming] with my high school sweetheart Nick Elijah Navarro. We have been together [practically] forever [now].”

What is your favorite memory of high school so far?

“Definitely [the memories I have made] in band, because I am such a band nerd. [Band] is where I spend most of my time and [have built] a family with, [which] is [something really special] to have on campus.”

What is your biggest pet peeve?

“My personal pet peeve is when I talk and I [accidentally] spit. I do not really have pet peeves for anyone else because [I understand that] things happen.”

Who was your favorite cartoon character growing up?

“Any Disney character [was easily my favorite], but I think Winnie the Pooh or Dumbo. I [personally] related a lot [to] their stories.”

Do you have any hidden talents?

“I can play seven instruments.”

How do you feel about being on homecoming court?

“Being on homecoming court is a really exciting experience. I [am looking forward] to participating in the rally and the football game halftime show.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“I will really miss my friends, because I know that after high school we will all be going our separate ways. The relationships I have built throughout my years in high school are very strong, so I will [greatly miss] them. [However, I still hope] we [will be able to maintain] our bond.”

If you could time travel, when would you go and why?

“I would go into the future to see how my life turned out. I would not want to go anywhere in the past because I feel like everything happens for a reason, so I might as well leave [the past] behind me.”

What is your favorite movie?

“One of my favorite movies is The Notebook, because I like romantic chick-flicks.”

What is the best cereal?

“In my opinion, the best cereal is corn flakes because [they are] plain and I like to eat plain cereal. I do not like any flavored types of cereal.”

What makes you stand out from the rest of the homecoming court?

“What makes me stand out from the other court nominees is my name. My name is the most recognizable because when you hear ‘Jackie Chan’, you think of the karate master.”

What are your hobbies?

“I do a lot of cooking and I also go hiking a lot with my cousins.”

Which teacher has inspired you the most during high school?

“It would have be either Mrs. [Branconier-Ha] or Mr. Rogan. Mrs. B is constantly supporting whatever decisions I make, and Mr. Rogan [really motivates] me for everything that I do.”

What is your best pick-up line?

“Are you a photographer? Because I can picture me and you together.”

Would you rather raid Area 51 or take a boat through the Bermuda Triangle?

“[I would] probably raid Area 51 because I want to know what is in there. The Bermuda Triangle is [a bit] sketchy, but in Area 51 there might be aliens.”

What qualities make you a good candidate for homecoming queen?

“ I am really happy [most of the time], and I consider myself a [very] positive person.”

What is your favorite memory of elementary school?

“There used to be a pomegranate tree by my [elementary] school, and so [my friends and I] would always go and eat pomegranates there. It was [really] fun [because we] would always hang out there.”

Would you rather live through a zombie apocalypse or an alien invasion?

“An alien invasion, because they probably have really cool technology. Zombies are really nasty, and there would be a bunch of dead people [in a zombie apocalypse].”

Which of Snow White’s seven dwarves do you relate to the most?

“Sleepy. Honestly, I am always tired.”

If you could have any animal for a pet, what would it be?

“A giraffe. I think they are so cute, [especially] in the videos where they fight each other with their necks. I think that is the [cutest and funniest] thing.”

In your opinion, what is the best Disney movie and why?

“[It] would have to be Beauty and the Beast. When I was little, I would go home after school every day and watch it, and I just love Belle.”

Who would you like to give a shoutout to?

“I would like to give a big shoutout to my mom. She is my best friend  has [always been] my rock, and she is the best mom I could ever ask for.”

What is the most beautiful place you’ve visited?

“I enjoy going to Las Vegas. I think it is pretty with all the lights at night.”

What was your favorite toy growing up?

“Growing up, I was obsessed with Barbie. I had everything [Barbie-related], [even] a Barbie house and car.”

If you were a pair of shoes, what kind of shoes would you be?

“I would be Vans, because they are casual, simple and they go with everything.”

What qualities make you stand out from the rest of the homecoming court?

“I am [extremely] friendly, and [throroughly enjoy] being part of this school. I love to meet new people and [find] more ways to get involved [on campus].”

Who has influenced you the most as a person?

“[It] definitely has to be my mom. She has taught me to always work hard and be kind.”

What is your favorite fashion trend at the moment?

“At the moment, I think my favorite fashion trend definitely has to be thrift shopping. I love going out and thrifting for clothes, and it is an adventure because you never know what you are going to get.”

If you could be any fictional character for a day, who would it be and why?

“I would probably be Winston from 1984. He lives a pretty tough life, but it is interesting.”

Should cereal be considered a soup?

“[Cereal] should be considered a soup. It meets all of the criteria.”

What are you most excited for at homecoming?

“I am most excited to share a fun and memorable experience with my friends and the ones that I love. I look forward to being a part of something that I helped put together, and to let go of the stress of the rest of the school year for one day and finally decompress.”

What is your best joke?

“Why did the chicken cross the road? Because he wanted to.”

What never fails to make you happy?

“My family, friends and girlfriend.”

What is your favorite television series?

The Office. I like [its humor].”

Why do you think you were chosen to be on homecoming court?

“I’m actually not really sure how I managed to be on homecoming court, although I do very much appreciate the opportunity.”

Who in your life do you aspire to be like?

“I aspire to be like my scout master mentor Dr. Ozzie. Throughout his life, he made his kids’ lives very plentiful and he provided a lot of support for them. When I was going for my Eagle [Scout] rank, he was the [one] I would go to. Without him I would have been stuck, and I could not have done my Eagle [Scout] project without him.”

How do you feel about being chosen for homecoming court?

“I was really shocked when I found out I was nominated. I did not really expect it, but it [is] a [very] cool experience.”

Would you rather live in the countryside or in a big city?

“I would rather live in the countryside, because there is a lot more open space. You can live a peaceful [lifestyle] and [keep to] yourself. [In] a big city, [I would] feel trapped and like [I would not be able] to go anywhere else.”

What is one skill that you would like to learn before you die?

“I would like to learn how to use chopsticks.”

What is the scariest movie you have watched?

“It would [have to] be IT: Chapter 2. I usually watch a lot of thrillers, so I am used to [gore], but [not] jumpscares. [When I saw] [the film] in the movie theater, where the projection of the volume is [really loud], it set me on edge.”

Who would you like to give a shoutout to?

“My family, my water polo team and my ASB family.”

Why do you think you are a good candidate for homecoming king?

“I was thinking that if I got into homecoming court, it would be pretty cool, but I [also] feel like I try my hardest to be kind to everybody and not judge too much.” 

What conspiracy theories do you believe in?

“[The theory] that aliens exist.”

If your life had a theme song, what would it be?

Till The End by Logic. It is just a song I really like.”

If you could be a character in any show or movie, which would it be?

Toy Story, and I would be Buzz Lightyear.”

How have your experiences in high school shaped your life?

“I think my experiences in high school have made me [a] more social person because of all the extracurriculars I am in, like basketball, yearbook and different clubs. It [has] helped me get to know a lot of people and make a lot of new friends.”

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

“I wanted to be a geologist, because I really like geology, but I don’t really know anymore.”

If you were in the circus, what role would you have?

“The director, because I am not down to do all the [other] stuff.”

What is one thing you would like to do before high school ends?

“Go on a roadtrip with all my friends.”

Why do you think you were chosen to be on homecoming court?

“I think that I can represent the student body well. I am pretty responsible and a pretty nice person.”

What is the most memorable story or book that you’ve read?

Diary of A Wimpy Kid. I find the books really funny and [because] they are a part of my childhood, [I enjoy] the nostalgia of [the series].”

Who will you be spending homecoming with?

“My friend Juliette. We have known each other since preschool, so I thought it [would be] cool [for us] to go to homecoming together.”

Do you have any special talents or skills?

“I hurdle on the track team, [so] I [would consider] hurdling to be my skill.”

What movie could you watch over and over and not get tired of?

The Sandlot, [it] is my favorite movie of all time.”

What superstitions do you believe in?

“[The superstition surrounding] the black cat.”
