KIWIN’S attended the Goldstone Conclave at Chaffey HS on Feb. 9.

During the event, members elected a new lieutenant governor and held their Feb. Divisional Council Meeting (DCM) to update other schools about events  hosted in the past month. Members elected sophomore Angel Lee as the new lieutenant governor, and Emma Chang as bulletin editor.

According to president junior Kristin Sung, the event helps organize the club and unites members.

“The outcome of the event was good, we were able to reach out to other members to discuss future projects and social events,” Sung said. “[Coming together] gives us an idea of what to expect for future events, especially since [District Convention is approaching].”

As newly elected lieutenant governor, Lee believes the club can increase membership and the amount of fundraisers.

“As a division, we can work harder to get members more involved,” Lee said. “Showing spirit and appreciation attracts new members, which results in [the ability to] fund more events.”

Additionally, member sophomore Winnie Thuong believes more people should attend the Goldstone Conclave.

“It was not the most successful Conclave, because not many members from our school attended when they should have,” Thuong said. “[Despite the turnout], it was an honor to represent my club as a delegate and learn something new. Members [should] attend the Conclave to see what goes on behind the scenes of planning fundraisers.”

KIWIN’s next event will be Adopt-a-Highway on March 2.
