KIWIN’S volunteered at the Charity Pro Rodeo on Oct. 13.
The rodeo, which features events such as bull riding, bareback riding and barrel racing, is held at the Industry Hills Expo Center, and the proceeds help fund the welfare of disadvantaged children in San Gabriel Valley. Volunteers helped in various booths and handed out raffle tickets with the welcoming committee.
According to vice president junior June Han, the event will contribute toward the club’s growth.
“The event helped [us] gain new members and [encouraged] the original members to participate,” Han said “[Moving forward, hopefully we] can publicize the club even more.”
Additionally, Goldstone Division Lieutenant Governor (LTG) senior Maille Uyehara enjoys working closely with other members of Key Club International.
“[Even though this year’s turnout] was less than last year’s, I always enjoy seeing Key Club working alongside KIWIN’S and KIWANIS,” Uyehara said. “It is very cool for everyone to come together [and give back to the community].”
Moreover, Sophomore Representative sophomore Kelly Moc feels that KIWIN’S benefits her in more ways than one.
“I love to represent the sophomores, [because] it encourages me to improve and [pushes me] to be better by working harder,” Moc said.
KIWIN’S next event will be the Buckboard Day Parade Breakfast at Bell Memorial Church on Oct. 20.
