KIWIN’S hosted its fourth annual Beach Palooza near Santa Monica Pier on Aug. 19.
During the event, members cleaned trash from the beach, participated in spirit battles and socialized with people from different divisions of Key Club.
According to Division Lieutenant Governor (LTG) senior Maille Uyehara, the Beach Palooza represents the last important summer activity before school starts.
“The Beach Palooza is [important, because] it is a traditional and recurring event,” Uyehara said. “[There are many] major events for fall and spring, [so] this is the major summer event.”
Meanwhile, recording secretary sophomore Angel Lee enjoyed making new friends from other schools but did not enjoy the summer heat.
“I met people from Los Altos and other divisions of Key Club International,” Lee said. “[However], it was really hot, and the sand was scorching. I [became] really sweaty and tired.”
On the other hand, corresponding secretary sophomore Sally Pan appreciated many aspects of the event.
“My favorite part was the fundraiser for the Pediatric Trauma Program. It was great to see how much everyone loves KIWIN’S,” Pan said. “We [also] won the spirit stick, which is really cool.”
KIWIN’S will be attending Fall Rally South on Nov. 10.
