With relentless repetition, we are told numbers never lie. We are told that numbers do not lie, and turning to statistics will constantly produce the correct  output. In this age and society, this heavily used phrase does not only apply to mathematics and calculations, but also how our society is changing.

“The numbers never lie” signify that concrete facts are always more significant compared to other immeasurable factors, such as feelings or emotions.

But do numbers always produce the optimal response?

For those looking for the full human experience, thankfully not always.

Artificial intelligence (AI) robots have always been viewed upon as a futuristic topic, an innovation which will bring upon more job opportunities along with simply more possibilities for expanding the binds of human creativity. Some robots have everything: senses, intelligence and even self propelled movement.  So what makes robots any different from humans ourselves?

When creating AI, robots forget to take into account one crucial element: human nature.  Where it seems like common logic for something as powerful as AI to command your decisions systematically, with the human element missing, it is simply unreliable 100% of the time.

This is where human emotion saves the day.

Many will point to bias as a reason to rely on artificial intelligence for solving problems, since humans’ perspective will always be somewhat subjective.  However, in most human situations, this simply does not hold true. . We as humans need each other’s emotions to get through our best and worst days alike. It is the continuous honing of our human side which disallows us from becoming robots ourselves.  It is our duty to preserve the humanity within us, because once that has dissipated, we are left with mere shells of our identities.
