On Tuesday, Dec. 4, girls water polo defeated Bell Gardens HS with a score of 17-7.

This win signified the girls’ third win of the season before league officially begins on Dec. 17.

Despite this accomplishment, player Emily Bermudez (12)  believes the team lacked communication, which reflected from their practice habits.

“Our lack of communication is an obstacle we face all the time,” Bermudez said. “Communicating is important to moving the ball around and we need to [perfect that during practice].”

Additionally, player Sarah Ni (12) adds that consistently practicing drills and plays helped the girls gain more confidence during the game.

“Conditioning and putting effort into practices [is improving] our teamwork so far this season,” Nie said. “The girls are steadily showing [development] during games.”

Overall, captain Charley Jackson (12) agrees that practice is key to improving in future games.

“This was a good game because we talked more which allowed us to play well,” Jackson said. “The score reflected how hard we’ve been working, but there is always room for improvement.”

Girls water polo will be competing in the Holiday Invitational Tournament on Dec. 8.
