On Jan. 18, girls water polo suffered a loss to Montclair HS in the Lady Nobles Tournament with a score of 7-9.
The girls started the game off strong, but ultimately lost due to bad calls from referees towards the end of the game.
According to driver Sidney Wong (10), the team did well despite the loss.
“I think that we pulled through and stayed confident throughout the game despite losing the lead earlier on in the season,” Wong said. “We played strong even we lost the previous game in the tournament.”
Furthermore, driver Sydney Ly (11) believes that the team needs to improve in multiple areas.
“[We need to] work more on practicing our plays, communicating [as a team] and working hard in practice in general,” Ly said.
Even with this loss, goalie Madeline Gaitan (12) still has high hopes for the end of their season.
“I hope that we can beat San Dimas because they are [our only competition] and continue on to place second in the league,” said Gaitan.
Girls water polo’s next game is against Baldwin Park HS on Jan. 28.
