Girls’ softball defeated by San Dimas Hs

On Tuesday, Apr. 16, girls’ softball lost to San Dimas HS with a score of 1-2.
At the start of the game, the girls played exceptionally well by taking the lead with a score of 1-0. Unfortunately, by the seventh inning, the opponents constructed a series of hits that resulted in Wilson’s loss.
According to head coach Armando Jacquez, this tough opponent was unbeatable in previous years as well.
“My expectations for the team were to win and play our best game for the season. [Although the girls] executed their plays well, I was a little frustrated because San Dimas has beaten us for the past four or five years,” Jacques said.
In addition, Captain Janelle Meono (11) believes that lack of kicks contributed to the outcome of the game, and hopes for improvement in certain areas.
“We did not get any hits, so we did not score as many runs as we could have. Some things that the team needs to improve on is practicing hitting with runners on base, such as situational running, in order to score runners and increase scores,” Meono said.
Despite the loss, outfield player Vanessa Maldonado (9) believes that the team performed well.
“Our team played against San Dimas in the past and we really wanted to win [this time], but sadly did not. Even though we played great on [both the] offensive and defensive level, we could not achieve our goal.”
The girls’ next game will be gainst Northview HS on Tuesday, Apr. 24.
