Girls Golf Prepares for a Fresh Return into the Fall Season

Informed and prepared, Glen A. Wilson High School’s (GAWHS) girls golf team is ready for the upcoming season!

On Aug. 21, the team hosted an informational meeting after school in the media center. From solidifying practice schedules to tournament plans, the info meeting sets the team up for success this fall.

Seeing that the meeting was attended by new members and returnees, Captain Beatrice Sun (12) sees an exciting season for the team from the high attendance of the info meeting and gives insight into the team’s goals and preparations toward the coming matches.

“My goal for this year’s fall season is to make it to California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and become closer as a team,” Sun expressed. “And to prepare for the fall season, we held a golf camp during the summer and are continuing to hold practices after school.”

Additionally, Co-Captain Erin Shin (11) also shares valuable advice for members who will soon participate in approaching tournaments and matches.

“Even if you hit a bad shot, do not burden yourself by thinking about how you should have hit better. Think about how you can improve from that mistake,” Shin commented. “Do not give up so easily and there is always room for improvement.”

Welcoming many newcomers to the team this year, many look forward to a fruitful season with the GAWHS girls’ golf team. And among such excitement, new member Kayla Anekananda (9) explains her personal hopes and goals for the season.

“I look forward to enhancing my golf skills and making new friends on the team,” Anekananda said.

As GAWHS girls golf team’s first matches are against South Hills High School on Sep. 11 and Sep. 15, let us cheer on their hard work and wish them good luck — Go Wildcats!
