From Harry Styles to Daniel Caesar, Coachella 2022 brings back the heat

“Dancing past midnight, singing until dawn. Living life to the beat of my own drum. Let the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival begin!”

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (CVMAF) is a major concert where many artists come together to perform and preview their music. The event will last from Apr. 15 to Apr. 24 at the Empire Polo Club located at Coachella Valley in Indio, California.

For the first day of Coachella’s grand return, after taking 2020-2021 off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival and its artists were eager to impress. From the way that headliner Harry Styles shocked the audience by bringing Shania Twain out for two of her biggest hits to Daniel Caesar inviting a shirtless Justin Bieber on stage to perform “Peaches,” the event made sure to keep fans on their toes, always guessing what could come next.

Overall, the event was a huge success. The energy and happy mood radiating from the crowd and performers will make you want to dance along with them. But, with too many amazing artists in attendance, the article will never finish if we cover them all. So, I will be going over the ones that are the headlines of the event.

To start things off, near the end of her Saturday night set on the main stage, Megan Thee Stallion took a break from running through Billboard hits to tease a song that sent her fans and gossip bloggers into a frenzy. Over a reworked version of the instrumental for the Wu-Tang remix to Jodeci’s “Freek’n You,” she rapped what she described as “a very motherfucking personal” diss song. This is speculated to be directed at rapper Tory Lanez amid their ongoing legal battle. I think the performance was excellent and well planned, and definitely worth the money that you spent on tickets.

Next up, Billie Eilish, who I am sure many fans did not expect for her to hit the Saturday headlines, brought out a few special guests. Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn came out for a rendition of her Happier Than Ever track “Getting Older.” Albarn remained onstage as the first notes of Gorillaz’s “Feel Good Inc.” poured from the sound system, with Eilish proceeding to sing along. And De La Soul’s Pos joined in to deliver his lines from the original track. Eilish ended her set by saying, “Thank you, Coachella! I’m sorry, I’m not Beyoncé! I love you. Good night!”

Lastly, Harry Styles and Daniel Caesar both brought out special guests onto their set, with Harry Styles pretending to act confused when the opening chords of “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” played behind him. To everyone’s surprise, Shania Twain herself suddenly appeared in a dress almost as shiny as Styles’ to sing her hit song with him, and Daniel Caesar performed at Coachella on Friday night. During his set, the R&B singer debuted an unreleased song called “Please Do Not Lean” and, immediately afterward, invited Justin Bieber onstage to sing the Justice single “Peaches” together.

The performances were definitely out of this world, not to mention the amazing outfits that the performers wore. Harry’s plunging rainbow sequin, half-naked Justin Bieber and Doja cat with the Tiger Print Skirt and shiny boots, there is no end to the amount of fun that you will get at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

And with that, the first week of the event has come to an end, but the second-week finale will finish things off with more music collaboration between different artists, shows and much more. If you still want to join in on the fun, you can still purchase the tickets, or you can also watch the live stream on the official Coachella youtube channel.
