Football falls short to Rowland HS during Homecoming game

  Football suffered a decisive loss against Rowland HS with a final score of 0-33 on Friday, Oct 11.   

  The match also served as Wilson’s annual Homecoming game. During halftime, the results of Homecoming King and Queen were announced with many visual displays.

  According to coach Daniel Morales, strong leadership has positive impacts both on and off the field. 

  “Leadership is an important part of the winning culture [that] brings the team closer together. Leadership does not have to be dominated by yelling or by being a cheerleader for your team,” Morales said. “We see this in the game because it instills values of cohesiveness and hard work which inspires them to push harder during games.”

  Furthermore, player Trey Cook (11) believes the team’s attitude undercut their efficiency. 

  “Our team [exhibits] discipline issues [which] negatively impacts our training and our lack of good practice caused [conflicts] during the game,” Cook said. “[At practice] we should be doing our parts [by] getting both mentally and physically prepared. However, we did not use our time efficiently.”

  However, captain Isaac Hernandez (12) states that the team plans to utilize their team dynamic in upcoming games.

  “With the [increased] feeling of brotherhood since the pre-season, we will come together as a team and work better. Together, we get to know each other and put in more work,” Hernandez said. “The bonding we do outside of school improves our communication skills and our teamwork which we plan to use in our next games.

     Football will face San Dimas HS in their last game of the season on Friday, Nov. 1.
