Catstyles Theatre performed Drama Night Live, its first show of the year, in the Little Theater on Sept. 6 and 7.
Drama Night Live is an hour and a half-long comedy show consisting of sketches from Saturday Night Live (SNL), Key & Peele, Comedy Central and more. Tickets sold for $5 presale and $7 at the door.
According to drama teacher Kimberly Weaver, her students [Advanced Drama] left her impressed.
“For this year’s Advanced Drama class, I had much higher expectations for their production groups,” Weaver said. “They ran their first rehearsal without me and therefore were very independent.”
However, Advanced Drama president senior Fusiana Johnson recalls the difficulties that occurred.
“The main difficulty was trying to replicate the original skits and create the same effect for scenes,” Johnson said. “Also, spacing was a major component in bringing the sketches to life.”
After her first performance, Advanced Drama member junior Fayelin Plascencia shares her favorite moment.
“I loved curtain call the best, because that is when everyone was on stage together as a family,” Plascencia said. “I also enjoyed how we recreated one of the skits and incorporated it after the final bow.”
Advanced Drama will compete at the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California (DTASC) Festival on Oct. 20.
