Boys’ soccer falls to Los Altos HS

On Feb. 1, boys’ soccer concluded their season with a 2-3 loss to Los Altos HS.

In spite of the tough loss, senior Enzo Figueroa enjoyed the game.

“I played decently,” Figueroa said. “It was not my best game but I still tried my best. The outcome was not as I expected it to be, but we all still enjoyed the competitive environment.”

As a senior, Figueroa also encourages newcomers to try out for the sport with next season just around the corner.

“Soccer is a very fun sport to play, and you will definitely connect with people that you do not know and make lots of new friends,” Figueroa said. “It is a great way to learn more about soccer as you will gain a lot of experience playing the sport and knowing what to do [on the field].”

Victor Cervantes (11) explained that the team started out strong until the overtime effort fell short. Nevertheless, the team gathered after the game to celebrate senior night, where graduating seniors reminisced about their final outing on the pitch.

“We had a little ceremony for seniors celebrating their last year [in high school],” Cervantes said. “Our coach went on speaker and asked seniors to share their plans after high school, which we all enjoyed hearing.”

Regardless of the unexpected result, boys’ soccer concluded their season on a hopeful note, looking forward to years to come.

The team will continue to train throughout the spring and summer seasons.
