On Tuesday, Dec. 3, boys’ basketball fell to St. Paul El Rancho High School by a score of 39-67.
Over Thanksgiving break, the team dedicated many days to practice and hard work. Thus, despite several key players’ absence, the Wildcats put up a valiant effort against their opponents.
According to guard Aiden Chan (10), the team will work towards improving their performance and game-playing mentality.
“We did not play up to our usual level because we were tired and did not perform [as well] as we could have,” Chan said. “For the next game, we will put up a better effort and work on our chemistry. I am confident we can play much better than how we performed during the match.”
In spite of the loss, captain Tyler Kam (12) expressed his satisfaction with practices over Thanksgiving break, but acknowledged the loss due to a lack of game plan.
“Going into Thanksgiving break, we were down from our previous two losses,” Kam said. [During] practices as we termed, we were focused, but just could not translate our game plan.”
Overall, center Jeremiah Susanto (10) attributes the team’s loss to a slow pace and lack of focus and will hope to improve on both of these areas in the Wildcats’ next game.
“I believe we should have played at a faster pace and been more focused throughout the game,” Susanto said. “Our focused dwindled as the deficit thickened and that hurt us a lot.”
Wilson will face off against Montebello HS on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
