On Oct. 20, the Wilson Cross Country team competed  alongside hundreds of high schools across the state at the annual Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. Sac) Invitationl through several races.

Finally, the next three races were at 1:09pm, 1:34pm, 2:07pm where the boys JV, Girls and boys Varsity all topped in first place.

Girls Varsity captain Lauren Sanchez (12) shares how she feels about her performance and the outcome of her team’s race.

“I felt like we did our best at this invitational, our goal was to win and we did,” Sanchez reflected.
“It was my last invitational since I am a senior, and it was a very memorable one. The best part was when we got ourfirst place plaque [because] we worked hard to get first, so it was a nice feeling. ”

Boys Varsity runner Matthew Alfonso (12) shares what he learned during and after the race.

“I only have one quote that describes my experience with the race: Comparison is the thief of joy.”

Finally senior Gio Ramos tells us when the next big event of the Wilson track team will be.

“Our next cross country event is on Thursday November 2nd, at Horsethief Canyon. If we do well, we get one more race, which will be CIF prelims.”
