Awake-A-Thon Helps Promote a Good Cause

 KIWIN’S hosted an Awake-A-Thon at Bellflower Memorial Hall on Saturday, March 9.

 The Awake-A-Thon is an event where every division of KIWIN’S in Southern California attempts to stay awake in one room. The purpose is to fundraise for the governor’s ongoing project, the Thirst Project, which strives to give low-income people water to survive.

 According to KIWIN’S president senior Kristin Sung, the most crucial part of the Awake-A-Thon is the planning that goes into it.

 “There is a lot of communication involved with the [organization of the event],”  Sung said. “[During the planning process], communication is involved by contacting schools across all of Southern California.”

  Moreover, KIWIN’S vice president junior June Han notes how the Awake-A-Thon encouraged her to bond more with the club members.

 “I had the opportunity to get closer to my fellow [KIWIN’S members] and do a lot of [bonding] activities,” Han said. “Although the [Awake-A-Thon] was very tiring, overall, it was really fun, especially [since] it is for a good cause.”

 Furthermore, KIWIN’S member freshman Ronald Lu shares how the Awake-A-Thon surpassed his expectations.

 “I originally thought I would be really tired, but it turns out that I was very energetic [throughout the night],” Lu said. “We did a lot of activities, and it was really fun.”

KIWIN’S will be having a Divisional Council Meeting for the District Convention on Saturday, March 16.
