Associated Student Body (ASB) organized Treat People with Kindness Week in honor of Suicide Prevention Month from Aug. 21-25.
Each day of the Treat People with Kindness Week created ways for students to relieve stress and keep a positive mindset. For example, on Motivational Monday, students shared a positive message or a quote to a friend. Students participated in spirit week by posting on Instagram or messaging the ASB account through Remind.
According to junior Jessica Wang, students should participate in Treat People with Kindness spirit week because of the benefits it provides.
“[The spirit week] allows me to feel motivated [during online learning, since I am able to share positive messages [on Instagram],” Wang said. “I think the theme [corresponds well] to the issues students may face. In these times of unpredictability, it is especially important to show kindness to everyone.”
Also, ASB student junior Lin Komaromi explained how accessible Treat People with Kindness Spirit Week is compared to previous ones.
“It is much easier to participate in these spirit weeks as the themes are [relatively simple]. When you can share little snippets of your life with others you know that we’re not alone,” Komaromi said, “I hope that Wilson students will enjoy this week’s spirit week because of the variety of themes and creativity that comes along with it that exceeds more than just creating an Instagram aesthetic for their story.”
Additionally, Sophomore Ashley Ie suggested that Treat People with Kindness Spirit Week sends a very important message.
“I was able to see that ASB can still bring spirit to students even when we are not on campus, ” Ie said. “The personal message of peace, love, and kindness that Treat People with Kindness Spirit Week sends is why it is my favorite spirit week so far.”
ASB’s next event is Club Rush on Oct. 5.
